All staff and faculty at the College are considered mandatory reporters (except for staff designated as licensed College counselors). The purpose of the student grievance procedure is to provide a system to channel and resolve student complaints against a college employee concerning decisions made or actions taken. A decision or action can be grieved only if it involves a misapplication of a college’s policies, procedures, or regulations, or violation of a state or federal law.
If you have a grievance, fill out the Grievance Procedure Form.
The procedure must be initiated by the student within fifteen (15) instructional days of becoming aware of the decision, action, or event giving rise to the grievance.
It cannot be used for complaints or appeals of grades awarded in a class or for an assignment.
View the full Grievance Procedure Policy here.
For detailed information regarding residency appeals and tips on submitting an appeal, click here.
Students should first contact the accounting office if they have any questions about bills they have received. They should then work with the accounting office and follow their process to attempt to resolve any discrepancies, before attempting to appeal any billing decision.
If after working with the accounting office to resolve a billing issue a resolution is not found, or the student is determined to have a unique circumstance, a student may then seek to appeal to the Dean of Students to review the matter.
Appeals must be submitted in writing. Students seeking to appeal accounting decisions will need to submit their written appeal (email) to the Dean of students to review at: jrobson@yorktech.edu
If a student believes that they have a relevant appeal that is not covered by the Grievance Procedure, or the appeal categories listed above, they may submit a written appeal to the Dean of students to review at: jrobson@yorktech.edu

Maintaining a safe and secure campus is everyone's responsibility. The College's Office of Law Enforcement and Safety suggests the following:
Always keep your valuables out of sight and protected. Remember, there are three components to every crime - desire, skill, and opportunity. YOU can directly influence two of the three components. While you can't influence someone's desire to commit crime, you can:
You should always be thinking about YOUR safety. Remember the S.A.T. of personal safety:
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, prescribes the conditions under which information about students can be released. York Technical College follows the guidelines in order to protect the privacy of its students. Students should review the College’s statement to better understand their rights under FERPA.
