Silhouette of military man salutingYork Technical College will introduce a new Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) pathway this fall for first-time freshmen. The pathway enables students to earn an associate degree while developing leadership skills, opening the door for new in-state transfer options, and military career opportunities.

The Army ROTC pathway is made possible through a partnership between York Technical College, Winthrop University, and the Greater Charlotte Consortium. The partnership allows York Technical College students to enroll in the specified courses at Winthrop University at no additional cost.

“This pathway is ideal for graduating high school seniors seeking to begin their ROTC experience at an affordable cost,” said John McGill, assistant vice president for academic pathways. “Military commitment is not required during the first two years, and students who pursue this pathway gain meaningful leadership experience valuable in any field.”

Students will coordinate their class schedules to participate in Winthrop’s ROTC program, allowing them to attend York Technical College while simultaneously earning additional credits through the ROTC pathway.
No prior military experience is required. Prospective students should visit our ROTC webpage for more information.
