We know that paying for college is one of the biggest concerns a student can have. York Technical College's Financial Aid Office is committed to helping students find the financial resource assistance they need to achieve their educational goals. The types of aid available include grants, scholarships, loans, a tuition payment plan, part-time employment, and veterans' benefits.

To help ease the financial burden for South Carolina college students and their families, the South Carolina General Assembly has created an income tax credit for tuition paid to South Carolina colleges and universities. To claim the credit, a Form SC 1040 must be filed. When preparing the South Carolina income tax return, Form I-319 Tuition Tax Credit must be completed. This form is included with all state individual income tax booklets. For more information about the tax credit, please visit the South Carolina Tuition Tax Credit website.

If you meet the qualifications, you may be able to claim up to $1,500 in a tuition credit. Form details can be found here.

Please contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions.

ABOUT THE FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available online from the U.S. Department of Education beginning October 1 of each year. The FAFSA website will ask questions about your family’s income and assets to determine an Expected Family Contribution, or EFC. York Tech then compares your family’s EFC with the total cost to attend to determine the amount of your Financial Aid package. The program then attempts to fill all or part of the gap between your family’s EFC and the total cost. You need to apply only once each school year.
