Want to soar like an Eagle? Start your flight at York Technical College by joining the Winthrop Bridge program.
Earn credits towards your Winthrop degree by taking classes at York Tech, and enjoy many of the benefits usually reserved for current Winthrop students. Then, when you transfer to Winthrop, you'll already be part of the WU family - plus you'll have earned a University Studies Certificate or Associate Degree from YTC.
Students in the Winthrop Bridge program enjoy an array of benefits:
A Winthrop ID card, which gives you access to campus facilities and services, including the West Center physical education and wellness center, the Academic Success Center, Writing Center, and Dacus Library, as well as admission to Winthrop cultural and select sporting events.
A Winthrop academic advisor who can help you plan your path to WU and connect you with other advisors in your planned program of study.
The Winthrop Bridge program is open to new York Tech students who would like to transfer into one of the designated programs at Winthrop. In addition, students who are denied admission to Winthrop University and live in the York Tech service area, are referred to the Bridge program. All students must be enrolled in a 2+2 degree program or University Studies Certificate. Additionally, new students looking to enter the program must place into college level courses, and continuing students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. Students who do not qualify now may apply again once the qualification criteria have been met (i.e., taking the pre-college coursework).
At this time, enrollment for the Bridge Program is closed. Enrollment will reopen on May 1, 2024, for the fall semester and October 1, 2024, for the spring semester. Please email Enrollment Services at enrollmentservices@yorktech.edu for more information.
Students interested in enrolling in the Winthrop Bridge Program can apply here: Winthrop Bridge Application.
Winthrop Bridge participants pay tuition and fees for enrollment to York Technical College. In addition, they are assessed a Winthrop Bridge program fee of $300 for the academic year (fall and spring terms), payable to York Technical College and remitted to Winthrop University. This fee defers the cost of services provided by Winthrop. This fee is non-refundable.
