York Technical College Opens the Phillips/HAAS Service and Maintenance Training Center for Advanced Manufacturing
On Tuesday, August 23, York Technical College opened the Phillips/Haas Service and Maintenance Training Center for Advanced Manufacturing. This partnership with Phillips Commercial – Haas Factory Outlet will provide all York Tech students and industry partners with new opportunities and skills.
Haas Automation, founded in 1983, is one of the many manufacturing companies worldwide. Providing a complete line of CNC vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, lathes and rotary products. Haas supports most manufacturing facilities in the College's service areas of York, Chester, and Lancaster counties.
Phillips Corp extends its capabilities for manufacturing through the distribution of robotics and 3D printing equipment. York Technical College students will be able to engage in hands-on training with the Haas equipment as they prepare to enter the workforce. Service Technician training is available through the College each week, with specialized Operator training available on both mills and lathes. Custom training is available for local industry and can be facilitated through the College's Workforce and Economic Development division.
Brad Garris, Regional Sales Manager at Phillips Commercial, stated, "I am so proud of the recently formed partnership between York Technical College and Phillips Commercial – Haas Factory Outlet. The official grand opening event on Tuesday night, along with the Haas Demo Day on Wednesday, was a great indicator that we made the right decision to partner with York Technical College." Over 75 industry representatives in North and South Carolina this Wednesday joined the College at its first Haas Demo Day, showcasing a variety of machine tools and manufacturing support machinery to industry partners and students. Various demonstrations were given while learning about CNC machining, robotics, and 3D printing advancements.

Our partnership will provide advanced training opportunities for our students, instructors, and the companies we serve," said Sonia Young, Assistant Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development at York Tech. This partnership aligns with the College's goal of serving the community and our students. "We look forward to hosting future demo days with Phillips Commercial and our continued partnership," said Young.
