Erik Brakeman Memorial Scholarship Available for Students this Spring
In partnership with AME, Inc., we are proud to announce the Erik Brakeman Memorial Scholarship, established on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
Students enrolled in the General Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or Welding Programs are eligible to apply for this award. Each year, one full-time student will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship to assist with education related financial expenses. Students who maintain a 3.0 GPA will be able to renew their scholarship.
AME, Inc. of Fort Mill established this scholarship to honor the memory of Mr. Erik Brakeman who was employed at AME Inc for 24 years and earned his Associate Degrees in Civil and Mechanical Engineering from York Technical College in 1997.
“This scholarship is established to honor the legacy of Erik and his dedication to his craft,” said President and CEO of AME, Inc. Jeff Campbell. “We hope this scholarship allows the next generation to obtain the skills necessary to continue the hardworking legacy of Erik Brakeman.”
Prior to attending York Technical College Erik Brakeman served in the United States Army where he was deployed on several tours overseas. After earning Associate Degrees in Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Brakeman began his 24 year career with AME Inc. as a Project Manager before passing away in October of 2022. During his time with AME, Brakeman continued serving his country by enlisting in the South Carolina Army National Guard, eventually being promoted to Command Sergeant Major. He served the United States for 38 years.
