Automotive and Diesel Apprenticeships

Take your passion for automotive to the next level with the combination of education and hands-on experience.

Apprentices in the Automotive and Diesel programs put theory and training through York Technical College into action through work-based learning job opportunities in the local automotive industry. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will earn the outlined educational certificate or degree along with any industry credentials and Department of Labor certificate. Participants will gain mentored skills training along with networking soft skills for a solid resume of education and experience.

Job Responsibilities

Select tools, equipment, or technologies for use in operations or projects
Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems
Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
Adjust vehicle components according to specifications.
Lubricate and Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Service vehicles to maintain functionality.
Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Observe equipment in operation to detect potential problems.
Repair non-engine automotive or vehicle components.
Operate transportation equipment to demonstrate function or malfunction.
Rewire electrical or electronic systems.
Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
Repair defective engines or engine components.
Dismantle heavy equipment or machinery.
Rebuild/Replace/Repair and install parts or components.
