York Technical College encourages remote proctoring for any assessments taken virtually, in all course types – online, hybrid, web-enhanced, or face-to-face -- where the assessment would be proctored in an in-person setting. Students taking online or hybrid courses should expect to utilize remote proctoring on tests, quizzes, exams, or other assessments, as deemed appropriate by the instructor. On-ground and in-person courses may also utilize remote proctoring for some assessments to allow for more instructional time in person. Remote proctoring allows students the ability to take an assessment at a time convenient for their schedule.
Students are charged a $65.00 technology fee each semester, which covers remote proctoring.
To learn more about remote proctoring services, visit the Remote Proctoring tab on the Student Resources site.
All students should utilize their York Tech email address for all communication with their instructor. Students should also ensure they have access to the D2L platform for viewing course information, attendance, and grades, at a minimum.
Students enrolled in any course other than traditional face-to-face must have access to a personal computer, reliable high-speed internet, a webcam, and a microphone. Any additional course specific requirements can be found in the course materials section of the syllabus.
