York Technical College is pleased to announce five new programs that will be offered to students beginning in the fall 2019 semester.

The new credit programs include basic utility line worker certificate, advanced utility line worker certificate, Associate of Applied Science in Management with a specialization in utility line worker, diesel engine performance certificate and an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology with a specialization in diesel engine performance.

“The College’s new programs are designed to meet critical workforce needs in York, Chester and Lancaster counties in order to prepare students for high demand and lucrative careers,” said Stacey Moore, the Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at York Tech.
“We’re pleased that these programs will ensure our communities have access to amazing educational and career opportunities.”

Upon completion of one of the line worker programs, students can work in a variety of positions that include telecommunications, water, sewer, information technology infrastructure, and electrical utilities. Now students who enroll in one of the new line worker credit programs will be eligible to apply for federal and state financial aid. Previously, students who enrolled in the College’s line worker program were only eligible for a limited amount of private financial assistance because the program was non-credit.

Additionally, beginning this fall, the College will offer flex-terms and accelerated courses. Flex-term scheduling works as a benefit for students by offering courses in a shorter-term within the semester in an innovative four-week online or hybrid format. The accelerated programs will be available in a variety of career-focused programs to better accommodate working students and those with families. Most accelerated programs being offered can be completed in 15 months or less.

“With our new flexible schedule for students, you can take courses with us no matter your other life needs,” added Moore.

The College’s fall courses begin August 21. To learn more about programs or to register for classes visit: yorktech.edu/apply.
