York Technical College is partnering with Affinity Health Center and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to offer free COVID-19 drive-thru testing on Saturday, August 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Testing will take place in the parking lot of the College at Building N (Hood Center) at 452 S. Anderson Road.

The event offers free testing to the public for anyone with or without COVID-19 symptoms. Students from the College’s Health and Human Services Division will be participating in the event and will receive clinical hours for their service while helping the community to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

“We are very excited to partner with Affinity Health Center to provide COVID-19 testing to our community,” said Stacey Moore, the College’s Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. “We are also delighted to have an excellent partner in Affinity Health to provide high quality clinical experiences for our students in various health sciences programs, including the opportunity for students to participate in the community testing day.

Saturday’s event culminates the end of National Health Center week. This year’s theme is “Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities Today and in the Future.”

“Affinity Health Center is grateful for the opportunity to expand our partnership with York Technical College to provide free COVID testing for our community during National Health Center Week,” said Anita Case, the Executive Director of Affinity Health Center. “York Technical College and Affinity Health Center are together lighting the way for a healthier community today and in the future.”

A doctor’s note is not needed to be tested, however a valid form of I.D. (such as driver’s license) is required by Affinity Health Care who is administering the tests. Any person who test positive for COVID-19 will be notified by phone. Attendees being tested will not leave their vehicles and the wait time is dependent on how many cars are in queue.
