Federal Work Study

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program provides part-time employment for students who demonstrate financial need to help them meet their educational expenses.  The program encourages community service and work related to their course of study.

To be eligible for work-study, you must show financial need on the Free Application for Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet additional requirements and guidelines.  Work-Study positions are limited, so it is best to apply early.  The Financial Aid Office determines the amount of a student’s financial need.  A certain percentage of this financial need may be met by awarding FWS to the student.

Students will be awarded Federal Work Study for the Fall and Spring semesters only. If there is money left over in the FWS allocation after the Spring semester, each department will be instructed on how many work-study students they can employ in the Summer and the maximum hours the students can work.
