Stacey Moore

After a national search, the York Commission for Technical Education has selected Stacey Moore, Ph.D. to serve as the next president of York Technical College. Contingent upon approval of the South Carolina Agency Head Salary Commission, Moore will assume the role on August 1, following the retirement of current president Dr. Greg F. Rutherford.

In partnership with ACCT Search, the Area Commission selected Moore, who currently serves as the College’s Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, from a candidate pool of 75 applicants.

“The Commission has had the distinct pleasure of working closely with Dr. Moore in her current role at York Technical College,” said Geri Rucker, Chair of the Area Commission and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee. “Her enthusiastic focus on student success and her commitment to continuing the great work of the college will serve the college and the community well.”

Prior to her arrival at York Technical College in 2016, Moore served as Associate Vice President for Student Success at University of Akron, Akron, OH. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The University of Akron in Akron, OH; and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.

“I am incredibly excited to be selected as the next president of York Technical College. It is the best place I have ever worked,” expressed Moore. “The people, underlying culture and authentic commitment to student success is indeed special at York Tech. To follow in the footsteps of Dr. Rutherford, who has been so instrumental to this College’s growth and success, and to now be able to lead and drive the College to its next level of success is both thrilling and humbling.”

The College’s search process invited the campus community to provide input on the key attributes and qualities of its ideal leader through a community survey and the opportunity to participate in a virtual forum for each of the three presidential finalists and provide feedback.

“We welcome Dr. Moore’s leadership as we enter the next chapter of York Technical College’s history,” shared Rucker.
