Charles A. Cannon Charitable Trust Awards York Technical College Foundation $100,000
The York Technical College Foundation, Inc., was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Charles A. Cannon Charitable Trust to help fund several maintenance projects at the College.
Repairs will be made to buildings on the College’s main campus and will include a skylight replacement in Building A and HVAC unit replacements in Building D, Building N (Hood Center), and Building J (Enrollment and Student Services). Building A houses health sciences and Business, Computers, Arts and Sciences classrooms, and Building D is where automotive and industrial engineering technologies classrooms are located.
“We’re grateful to Cannon for their unwavering support of the College,” said Robby Brown, the director of facilities management at York Tech. “This grant allows us to continue to make much needed repairs to our facilities in order to keep our students and employees safe and keep our buildings functional.”
This is the Foundation’s fourth award from the Trust. Previous awards helped to fund renovations to Building C, upgrade the College’s camera surveillance system, and to make roof and other repairs to Buildings N and ST.
“The Trust continues to be a dedicated partner to our Foundation,” said Melanie Jones, the executive director of the York Technical College Foundation. “This grant and the previous funding support we’ve received has been monumental in allowing us to help maintain a safe and comfortable campus environment, which is critical to us fulfilling the College’s mission of maximizing student success. We are indeed appreciative of their support.”
The Charles A. Cannon Charitable Trust was established to continue the philanthropic
efforts of Charles A. Cannon, President and CEO of the Cannon Mills Company, and carry
on the works of his lifetime interests in higher education, healthcare, human services
and community.
