Chad Williams joins York Commission for Technical Education
Charles “Chad” Williams, Jr., has been appointed to the York Commission for Technical Education, the governing board of York Technical College. He will serve a three-year term through April 2022.
Williams is the President and CEO of Caretaker Management Services, Inc., a full-service lawn and garden maintenance company in Rock Hill. He previously served as the Planning Commissioner for the City of Rock Hill and was a County Councilman for York County.
“I am excited to be on the York Area Commission,” said Williams. “Technical colleges are something that are under-utilized and on the rise and I am looking forward to being a part of that. I am glad to be here and looking forward to finding out how I can contribute.”
Williams is no stranger to service. He has served as a member of the Rock Hill Economic Development Board and the Anne Springs Close Greenway Board. He also held leadership roles with the Rock Hill Jaycees, South Carolina Jaycees, and the Come-See-Me Festival.
“The College’s leadership has always been excellent,” said Williams. “I’ve been a part of boards and commissions that talk about doing stuff, but I am really excited to be a part of one that talks about doing stuff and then you can look around and see things get done.”
Williams earned his Bachelor of Science in management with a concentration in accounting from Clemson University. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1986-1994 in both Clemson and Gaffney, S.C.
“It’s always exciting to have someone with a proven track record of community service and commitment to York County in particular,” said Geri H. Rucker, Chair of the York Commission for Technical Education. “His past service on County Council can only help us grow as a group, stay informed, and put the needs of our students first.”
The York Commission for Technical Education is comprised of 11 commissioners. As the governing body of the College, the Commission approves and reaffirms the College’s mission, ensures financial stability, and develops policies that makes sure the College remains compliant with state, federal and local laws, policies and regulations.
