Kiara Morse (Personal Trainer)
“I did it backwards, so I started at a four year university and I graduated in exercise science with a minor in health and I was in the honors program there. I decided I didn’t want to do more so the science part behind it all. I wanted to be more hands on and get to the physical part. Then, I was looking up different programs and York Tech came up and I heard great things about it, so I decided to test it out with a few classes. Once I graduated from university, I decided to enroll in their program and get back into physical therapy and personal training.
“I wish I would’ve started here or at least did my program here before transferring because it would’ve saved me a lot of time and money.”
We take pride in meeting the needs of all our students and providing support whenever it's needed. Kiara's unique journey from a four-year college to York Tech led her to discover many aspects of the technical school culture that she preferred:
“I like the flexibility and that it wasn’t too many classes at one time or I didn’t have to do as much at once like I was accustomed to at my previous college. I think I learned more here than in my four year and got much more hands-on experience. I got more time in the field and with my peers and was able to learn from them and build up my overall experience in a stronger way. “
Kiara plans to earn a few more credentials in various other areas to better market herself, but she's already well on her way to achieving her dreams of becoming an elite personal trainer. This field demands strong communication skills and confidence, given the high level of interpersonal interaction involved. At York Tech, Kiara not only gained hands-on experience and growth opportunities, but she also developed invaluable leadership skills that are helping her excel in her career.
“It helped me come out of my comfort zone and I was able to learn more and dive deeper into my field especially in areas such as anatomy, physiology, and the overall technique and form of exercise. As far as being a personal trainer – I learned the values of leadership and the overall foundation of what it takes to be in the field. I learned how to become a top trainer and stay on course to achieve my goals.”
Her unique journey and growth mindset help embed Kiara in the York Tech legacy. Her determination and willingness to push outside of her comfort zone are what make her successful and help our programs flourish. Professional journey’s may take an unexpected turn, but as Kiara shows, there is always an opportunity to receive the guidance needed to advance your career and achieve greater success than ever before.
