York Technical College celebrates local lineworkers on April 18 for National Lineman Appreciation Day.

The York Technical College Alumni Connection is calling for nominations for alumni representatives to the Advisory Group. Nominations are due by March 31.

The York Technical College Foundation, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of the York Technical College Alumni Connection this fall. The Alumni Connection is a new program supported by the Foundation and is designed to strengthen relationships among alumni and the College in an effort to positively impact our community.

The York Technical College Foundation Inc., welcomes three new members to its Board of Directors effective July 1, 2017. Lori Dominguez, Vernon Prosser, and Robert Hall will each serve a term of three years.

Programs will be in the fields of health science, information technology, applied science and more.

The new scholarship opportunity is designed to increase underrepresented populations in utility line worker professions.

Eight high school students earned three college credentials each before earning their high school diploma.

York Technical College’s John McGill, Associate Dean of Arts & Sciences, was an Honorary Inductee into the National Technical Honor Society. The award ceremony was held March 8, 2017 at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center in York, S.C.

York Technical College will once again host Camp Tech, week-long summer camps focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math. These STEAM camps will begin June 12 and will run through July 28, and are offered at the College’s main campus as well as the off-campus centers in Chester and Indian Land.

York Technical College’s new Chief of Public Safety, Bryan McDougald, joined the College’s staff on February 1, 2017. Chief McDougald comes to York Tech after serving over 20 years with the South Carolina Highway Patrol in various capacities.

York Technical College’s Monique Perry, Dean of Enrollment Services, is the 2017 recipient of the A. Wade Martin Innovator of the Year Award. The award was presented during the recent South Carolina Technical Education Association’s (SCTEA) annual conference at Myrtle Beach.

York Technical College will host College Goal SC, a free public event designed for local college-bound students and their families to receive assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA).

For the Spring 2017 semester, York Technical College is offering up to $2,500 in scholarship funds to eligible students who plan to take at least six credit hours at one its off-campus centers in Chester or Indian Land.

York Technical College’s cooperative nursing program with the University of South Carolina at Lancaster has been ranked among the nation’s top vocational, career and community colleges for nursing, ranking in at 5th out of the top 75.
