The York Technical College family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our commissioner John “Jack” Holladay.
Jack was a longtime supporter of York Technical College, and his dedication to education and student success led him to be appointed as a Commissioner for York Technical College in 2018. “Jack Holladay was a staunch advocate for York Technical College and one of the kindest, most intelligent leaders with a vision that I have had the privilege of knowing. He will be sorely missed by the entire College community,” said York Technical College President Stacey Moore.
His contributions to Rock Hill are endless. He served as Executive Vice President for Technology and Facilities at Comporium Communications, where he retired in 2022 after 38 years of service. In his time with Comporium, he was responsible not only for providing leading edge technology and business solutions, but the engineering, planning, and development of facilities, construction and the supply chain as well. “He was a wonderful person,” said former York Technical College President Greg Rutherford.
In his spare time, Jack volunteered in his community and church, serving as a youth leader, basketball coach, and board member for the Boys and Girls Club of York County. He leaves behind his wife Lora, their two sons Jay and Spencer, and many friends and colleagues in the community who will miss him dearly.
Jack’s family is hosting a visitation on Saturday, January 14th from 5-7 p.m. at the Greene Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 15th at 3 p.m. at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill.
