Our program supports writers in a variety of disciplines and range of courses. Writing coaches meet individually with students about:

    • brainstorming topics
    • organizing ideas
    • formulating a thesis
    • structuring paragraphs
    • developing an argument

    * Coaches do not proofread or edit papers. They provide feedback and suggestions on how to write concise sentences, coherent paragraphs, and well-organized papers. Coaches also work with non-native speakers of English.

Online Writing Critiques - available 7 days a week

The ACT Center offers students the ability to submit essays online to be reviewed by a writing coach. After self-registering for the Writing Lab on D2L, students can submit essays and completed request forms through the D2L Dropbox and receive a critique via email within 24 hours. The critique includes a copy of the essay with suggestions in the margins and a link to a video with feedback and recommendations. When logged in to D2L, click on the Self Registration link and select Writing Lab 2014FA.
