Guidelines for Internal Courses
Funds are provided by the York Technical College Foundation to support faculty and staff in taking internal credit and continuing education courses.
Faculty and staff may be approved to take one internal course per semester.
In order to maintain consistency throughout the College, the following guidelines have been developed for in-house courses.
- Internal courses must be directly related to job duties.
- Goals or expected outcomes of the course (how it will be used on the job or for related skill improvement) must be predetermined with the supervisor. Evaluation of improved job performance will be obtained through the annual Performance Appraisal process.
- Full tuition will be paid, excluding textbooks; however, books may be covered if the course is a condition of employment verified by Human Resources.
Internal course approval request forms should be submitted to the Professional Development Council according to the following timelines for each semester:
April 15
Summer semester
July 15
Fall semester
November 15
Spring semester
The Faculty/Staff Development Activity Evaluation Form should be submitted within 30 days of completion of each activity to the Professional Development Organizational Coordinator.
If the requested course is not satisfactorily completed (with a grade of C or above in a credit course or an S in a continuing education course) with appropriate documentation and evaluation submitted, the participant will be required to reimburse the York Technical College Foundation for tuition.
