Building Construction Trades
Each year there is a growing number of homes and businesses that are new construction or are in need of repair. Increasing energy cost and environmental awareness has changed the nature of this work to require higher quality construction with lower impact on our natural resources. To meet this ever growing demand for highly skilled workers, the Building Construction Trades department, at York Technical College has developed programs that give students the necessary hands on training while also preparing them for lifelong learning of emerging technologies.
The Building Construction Trades department offers certificates and Associate Degrees in the following trades: Air Conditioning, Carpentry, Construction Management, Electrical Wiring and Plumbing. Certificate programs offer students the opportunity to gain concentrated training in a specific trade in as little as 16 weeks. Afterwards, they can continue their training by selecting another skills area and work towards an Associate Degree.
